Fourteen-year-old Florida boy accused of stabbing his mother to death and stealing family's SUV before fleeing to Miami

A 14-year-old Florida boy has been charged with stabbing his mother to death and then stealing her SUV to drive to Miami.
Mitchell Daughtry, is suspected of killing Pamela Daughtry, 53, at their Jacksonville area home, where her older daughter found her on August 18.
The younger Daughtry allegedly tried to commit suicide with pills that night in south Florida, though he was taken into custody under a state law allowing for the detainment of those suspected to be mentally ill.
His mother had texted her adult daughter Kristen to come to speak to the 14-year-old in the afternoon because he was angry, according to Jacksonville Police's Steve Gallaher.
When she arrived her mother was dead and Mitchell had allegedly left with a 2007 Volvo and items from a safe, the Florida Times Unionreported.

Police said that the family had kept kitchen knives in the safe because he had previously been suicidal.
Part of the reason that Mitchell Daughtry was believed to be angry was that his father Barry Daughtry,51, had been jailed on two counts of lewd molestation to a child under 12 years old since February.
The father posted bond the day after his wife was killed and was released, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's records.
His son had texted friends and family saying that he was in Miami, five hours drive away, and admitted that he had killed his mother, according to Jacksonville Police's Steve Gallaher
He was taken to a medical center under Florida's Baker Act before being transferred to a juvenile facility.
Daughtry was transferred to Duval County jail on Wednesday.
He is expected to be tried as an adult, according to CBS 47.
