Encourage communication: As early as possible, encourage your children to talk to you about what is going on in their lives. Do not be too busy to listen, and do not be so distracted that you miss importants parts of the conversation. Employ patience when communicating as this will encourage them to talk to you more.

Build Confidence: One reason why a lot of people are so interested in doing what their friends are doing is because they want to gain their approval. This usually happens when the child lacks the required self confidence that helps them determine right from wrong and stand by it. Make sure you do all you can to build your child’s confidence. Remind them they are beautiul, smart, loved, etc. The more secure they are in themselves, the less likely they are to seek such security outside the home.

Know Their Friends: Encourage your children to invite their friends into your home, or find opportunities to hang around your child and their peers. The purpose of this is to watch how your child engages with his/her friends. Watch for signs that show they find it difficult to say no to them if they want to do things he/she is not interested in. Also, watch for signs that your child is doing all he/she can to gain their approval or mimicking them as opposed to just having a good time with them.

Show The Value of Honesty: A child who ends up losing his/her way usually starts by being dishonest. As a parent, it is your job to show them the value of honesty. Do not overlook even the little lies or lies of omission. Make sure you call them out on it and teach them that there is no alternative to honesty.

Practice What You Preach: All children first learn about behaviours from their parents, so it is important to always practice what you preach. If you are against peer pressure, make sure you act in the same vein. Let your children see you say no to things that are wrong. Let them watch you stand by your beliefs and see that you never sway. This is guaranteed to make them believe they can do it too.

Praise Good Deeds: One mistake parents often make is that they make a big fuss when their child does something wrong and they forget to put in as much effort when the child goes out of their way to do the right thing. Make sure you show them that their good deeds counts as much as their bad deeds. Children will always want to please their parents and they feel confident and happy when this is achieved. So, as a parent, make sure they know when they have made you proud, it will encourage them to keep doing more to get that reaction.

Do Not Ignore Red Flags: Is your normally well-behaved child suddenly acting rebellious? Do not overlook this because when a child is disturbed (especially in teen years), they are very likely to turn to their friends and not their parents. So this means a parent has to work extra hard to reestablish connection and communication. Make sure you encourage them to talk about whatever is going on in their lives. Driver Kills Friend After Drinking Ogogoro

A driver has been arrested by police in Benin after he crushed his friend to death moments after they enjoyed locally distilled gin, popularly called ogogoro.

The incident happened on Monday, September 28 when the driver who worked for a private firm in the state visited his friend, Pa Eghobawaye. According to Vanguard, Pa Eghobawaye who was in his 80s was the oldest man in Nekpenekpen Street, off First East Circular road in Edo.



The driver asked for ogogoro from the wife of the octogenarian and both men reportedly shared a hearty drink. When the driver decided to leave, the old man got his shaving kit and began to shave. To the dismay of onlookers, the driver lost control of the vehicle when he attempted to drive it and crushed Pa Eghobawaye to death.
The driver was pounced upon by angry residents but the intervention of youths in the area prevented another tragedy. The driver was handed over to the police while the deceased was buried on Monday night based on the instruction of the man that his body should not be taken to a morgue in the eventuality of his death.
The wife of the deceased reportedly fainted when she witnessed the accident and she had to be taken to hospital before she could be revived.
Mr. Solomon Omoregie, the brother of the deceased lamented that it was an unfortunate incident that his brother passed away through such manner. He added that the family would not take laws into its own hands.

“We will not take the law into our hands and we have told our family members not to take any action by burning the vehicle or by killing the man. We want the police to take up the case and do what is necessary”
Stephen Onwuche, the police public relations officer in the state confirmed the arrest of the driver and added that investigation had started to find out the real cause of the accident.

NASA: Evidence of Liquid Water Found on Mars

On Monday NASA announced the amazing results of a new study. According to scientists, salty liquid water flows seasonally on Mars, giving the red planet one of the essential ingredients for life.
The study focuses on the mysterious recurring slope lineae, or RSL — narrow, streaky features on the planet’s surface. The RSL are typically about 15 feet in width or smaller. They appear on slopes during the planet’s warm seasons, and fade during cooler seasons.

Just take a look at photo below. The dark streaks are known as recurring slope lineae and are believed to be evidence of flowing water. The blue color relates to the mineral pyroxene.

NASA has suspected that the RSL are made of salty brine, despite previous analyses of data from the spacecraft’s Compact Reconnaissance Imaging Spectrometer have found neither salt nor water. The new study is far more detailed!
Researchers led by Lujendra Ojha of the School of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences at the Georgia Institute of Technology have found evidence for hydrated salts – magnesium perchlorate, magnesium chlorate and sodium perchlorate. Those compounds lower the freezing point of water, and as result allow it to flow at much cooler temperatures.
“These soggy streaks suggest that there are vast reserves of underground water, presumably the last remains of lakes that may have once dotted the landscapes of this planet,” said Seth Shostak, senior astronomer and director of the Center for SETI Research, who was not involved in the new study.
“Consequently, if life began billions of years ago during Mars’ more clement youth, its progeny could still be hiding out a few feet underfoot,” he said. “That would make the task of finding some red planet biology far easier.”
The researchers write that there is still another mystery to be solved: where the salty brine is coming from. There could be several reasons that the RSL lines are forming – the water is flowing from a local aquifer, melting ice or another source.
Even so, the idea that surface water exists mean that Mars has one of the essential ingredients for life. Now, studies can focus on trying to find out if it’s there.
“To find out whether life has originated on Mars independently of the origin of life on Earth will take a sophisticated robotic mission or a manned mission, either of them carrying the right instruments,” said astronomer Jay Pasachoff of Williams College. “Of course, that would be microscopic life.”
Shostak commented that even microscopic life would have profound implications.
“It would convert the idea that life is a cosmic commonplace from ‘a pleasant hypothesis’ to ‘a very plausible statement,'” he said.

According to reports from NewsOne; Elvis Eze aka Elvis Casino was one of the persons invited to the birthday part of Ingrid Alabi in Accra, where he met Yvonne Nelson as well as other Ghanaian celebrities.

The case has been reported to the East Legon Police but Elvis Casino is reportedly evading arrest and is nowhere to be found

Apple sold 13 million iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus smartphones in one weekend

The new iPhone6s and iPhone6s Plus just smashed last year's record set by the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus handsets, that's according to their maker Apple Inc.
The company revealed earlier today through its Chief Executive Officer Timothy Cook that it sold a whooping 13 million of the 2015 iPhone models since they went on sale in the United States and other nations on September 25.
Thus beating what analysts expectations of 12 million. In the same period last year, Apple revealed that it sold more than 10 million iPhone6 and iPhone 6 handsets and said it was their best opening weekend sales ever. This new feat just shatters any previous first weekend sales results in the Cupertino-based company's history.
The Company CEO shared the milestone report in a statement today. I take a deep sigh. Here we go again. I don't believe Apple sold that amount of the new iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus handsets in its first launch weekend. I think Apple made up the figure.They are lying through their teeth.For heaven's sake when the phones went on sale, only a few people showed up at the company's stores to get the new handsets.

Man Dies after Dangerous S*x with His Girlfriend In Delta State

A young lady has found herself in trouble after her lover who came to enjoy himself died in her apartment.
The boyfriend, a middle-aged man (names withheld), who went to visit his female friend at Agidaese Street in Ogwashi-Uku area in Delta was said to have died under controversial circumstance on Friday.
The man, according to sources, slumped in his girlfriend’s room shortly after a marathon s*xual intercourse and could not make it to the hospital, he died on the spot.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, Mrs. Celestina Kalu, confirmed that the lady had been arrested by police in Ogwashi-Uku while the body of the man had been deposited in the mortuary for autopsy.
Sources say the girl has been crying in the cell that she didn't know what led to the death of her lover.

See Boar With Blue Insides That Baffles Everyone

A boar with blue intestines have been found by a baffled couple in Morgan Hill, California, USA.
An unusual discovery was made by a couple who saw a wild pig wandering near their farm and decided to shoot it for meat.

They transported the boar back home, drained its blood but when they cut it open – bright blue fat became visible.



What is more surprising is that the animal’s skin, blood and meat were of normal colour, while all the fat was fluorescent blue.

The weird images of a wild pig’s insides were posted by imgur website user GlendilTEK, who wrote: “I know blue pigmentation is often caused from copper poisoning but all that they have are some old mercury mine shafts that they have filled in.

My in-laws have also shot wild pigs on the ranch before and none of them have been blue. We have no clue why the fat is this colour – but it is all over the pig no matter the section.” The fat sample has since been sent to the University of California for medical tests. Weird mages of the insides have caused stir on the Internet, as no one can give a reasonable explanation for the fat colouration.

From Zero To Five: Childless Couple Adopts Triplets, And Then Receives Shocking News

This adorable and surprising story is making its way through Facebook pages today. It’s the story of a U.S. couple – Andy and Sarah Justice. They wanted nothing more than to have a baby.

After three and a half years, the couple decided to go to a specialist, but the treatment was too expensive (between $30,000–60,000). Instead they decided to adopt a baby and were soon paired with a birth mother.

When Sarah arrived at the first ultrasound, a doctor told them that the birth mom was carrying triplets. Sarah couldn’t have been more thrilled!

Born two months early and weighing only 3 pounds each, the babies — Joel, Hannah, and Elizabeth — stayed in the neonatal intensive care.

But something incredible happened then…

A week later, Sarah began to feel sick and scheduled a doctor’s appointment. He surprised her: Sarah was pregnant — with twins!

“We were very happy. Did we panic a little? Of course. But we were very happy,” she told. “We really felt this was something God wanted us to do. And sometimes, when you follow God’s will in one thing, it leads to the next thing.”

The Justice family grew from two to seven in less than a year!

According to the couple, the children use 84 bottles and 300 diapers a week!

While Andy and Sarah have their hands full they wouldn’t want it any other way.
Sarah summed it all up by saying, “God has a great sense of humor.”

Nigerian Army Beheads Boko Haram Member

As the Nigerian army reiterate that it has continue to make gains against the outlawed terror group, Boko Haram, in the northeast region of the country, a picture of a Nigerian army holding the head of a an alleged Boko Haram Kingpin has surfaced on social media.

According to Nigeriacamera.net, the said Boko Haram member was beheaded for allegedly been the strongest among the group. Meanwhile, the military has also said it has taken over a place called Banki from the armed group.

Three villages were reportedly attacked with over 60 houses have been destroyed in a fresh attack by members of the Boko Haram sect.

Police Officer Runs Mad In Yobe, Kills Two Senior Officers

The police public relations officer in Yobe state, Toyin Gbadegesin, has narrated how a police constable allegedly ran mad on Friday, September 18.
He told the News Agency of Nigeria in Nangere, Yobe State, how the police officer ran mad on duty, killing two senior policemen. The policeman however killed himself thereafter.

“A constable in Nangere went berserk this morning, grabbed a rifle and shot two inspectors who died instantly. He shot himself too but did not die instantly but was rushed to the hospital. The cause of his action is not known yet but investigation into the unfortunate incident has begun to unravel the remote and immediate cause of his action,” Gbadegesin said.
A hospital staff who pleaded anonymity also confirmed the death of the policemen, saying that “the three bodies have been deposited at General Hospital, Potiskum.”

9 killed in suspected Boko Haram attack in Borno (Photo)

Gunmen thought to be Boko Haram fighters on Sunday killed at least nine people in northeast Nigeria, in a trademark raid that also left 10 people injured, police said.

“Today (Sunday) at about 2:00 am (0100 GMT), suspected Boko Haram terrorists attacked Mailari village, (in) Konduga LGA (local government area),” said Borno state police spokesman Aderemi Opadukun.

“Nine persons were reported killed while 10 were injured. The injured victims are now being treated at UMTH (University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital,” he told reporters.

No further details were immediately available about the attack, which came after nearly 140 people were killed in a series of bombings in the Borno state capital Maiduguri and Monguno last Sunday.

Nigeria’s military has claimed it has Boko Haram on the run, having destroyed the Islamists’ camps and recaptured territory, as well as rescuing hundreds of women and children thought to have been held hostage.

Nigeria’s President Muhammadu Buhari early last month set his military commanders a three-month deadline to end the insurgency, which has claimed at least 17,000 lives and left more than two million others homeless.

But sporadic attacks have continued, particularly against civilian “soft” targets such as busy markets, bus stations and places of worship.

This month, 155 people have been killed in Boko Haram attacks, while more than 1,260 have died since Buhari took office on May 29 vowing the crush the rebellion, according to AFP reporting.

The security unit of the University of Abuja yesterday arrested and paraded before the public two men who were part of an admission and employment syndicate. They had been allegedly defrauding unsuspected Nigerians by promising employment and admission into the university.

Addressing THIS DAY newsmen, The Chief Security Officer (CSO) of the university, rtd. Col. Solomon Ngbede while parading the suspects hinted that his team had been on the trail of the suspects for over a year, adding that their arrest was a result of a painstaking effort by the unit. According to him, “The two suspects have been collecting various sum of money from their victims and promising in return to secure admission, employment opportunities to them.”

Police Officers' Gunshots Result In Death Of 83-Yr-Old

An 83-year-old man, Maxwell Acho Chukwu, believed to be the oldest in a Rivers state community, has been confirmed dead following sporadic gunshots by policemen who stormed the community on Saturday.
The Punch reports that the policemen stormed the venue of a community meeting in Mgbuoshimiri Community in Obia/Akpor Local Government Area of the state and started shooting sporadically.
The old man was reported to have slumped and died following these gunshots by the policemen.

Recounting how the incident happened, Ohazurume Chukwu, the president-general of Mgbuoshimiri Community Council, informed that the police officers continued to shoot into the air even when they (police) had been duly informed that the people present at the meeting were not cultists.
He said: “This morning, we were in a meeting, some people came with some policemen to invade the venue of our meeting.
“When we tried to find out what the reasons are, the policemen told us that they were told them that it was cult members that were meeting.
“We told them that it was a community meeting; and they insisted because they have been induced. Thus, they insisted that they had to arrest some persons and we resisted.
“In the cause of doing that, the policemen started shooting. They started shooting to the point that the oldest man in the community, Mr. Acho Maxwell Chukwu, fell down and died as a result of their shooting.”
The community therefore calls for the arrest and subsequent prosecution of those involved in the shooting for which some aggrieved youths in the area took to the streets in violent protest.
The police public relations officer in the state, Ahmad Mohammad, in his reaction, disclosed that the matter was already being investigated by the police, adding: “This is a mere allegation. I can’t say much for now because the matter is under investigation.”
Officers of the Nigeria Police Force have been guilty of shooting at innocent citizens in the past as a 51-year-old widow was reportedly killed by policemen in Akure as another video also surfaced on the internet, where a policeman reportedly assaulted a young lady in Lekki area of Lagos state.

Man Commits Suicide After 32-Year Mental Illness

Tope Ogunmodede, a middle-aged man, who has been battling mental illness has reportedly committed suicide in Ondo state.
According to Nigerian Tribune, the man committed suicide by hanging himself in Lafe area of Akure, the Ondo state capital, at the weekend out of frustration.
Reports have it that the Ogunbodede, who could not visit the hospital (on schedule) for a medical check-up last Thursday, could not go because of the Sallah‎ holiday.

Until his death, he was said to be living with his mother, and left home on Friday after his mother had gone out.

Nigerian Tribune sources added that the mother raised an alarm when she returned and found her son’s body dangling in his room.
A family member stated that so much money had been spent by the family on the man’s mental illness before he decided that committing suicide was the best option for him to stay out of troubles.
Wole Ogodo, the public relations officer of the state police command, while confirming the incident, added that some police officers had visited the scene of the incident and had deposited the remains of the deceased in a mortuary.
