Top 5 Natural Ways To Stop Snoring

You may be among the 45% of normal adults who snore at least occasionally or you likely know someone who does.
Other than just being a nuisance to the other person in the room with you, snoring can be very annoying.

Snoring is a common condition that can affect anyone, although it occurs more frequently in men and people who are overweight and it has a tendency to worsen with age.

Its cause can vary from person to person and range from physical anatomy to behavioral or lifestyle factors. Snoring is caused by nasal congestion or sinus infections in some cases. Other causes may be the relaxation of muscles in the mouth and throat during sleep.
Follow the tips below to put a stop to your snoring.

1. Lose Weight:
Losing weight helps some people but not everybody as thin people snore too. Weight loss may help if you’ve gained weight and started snoring and did not snore before you gained weight. Fat deposits in your upper airway can obstruct your breathing.

2. Change your sleeping position:
Try to sleep on your side rather than your back. Sleeping on your back boosts your odds of snoring through the night. While sleeping on your back, your tongue, chin and any excess fatty tissue under your chin can relax and squash your airway. Sleeping on your side prevents this.

3. Quit smoking:
Smokers are twice as likely to snore than people who don’t, studies show. It irritates your nasal passages, which decreases airflow and makes it hard to breathe through your nose. If the nasal passages become congested, it’s difficult to breathe through your nose because the airflow is decreased.

4. Avoid alcohol before going to bed:
Alcohol causes the muscles to relax more than usual during a normal night’s sleep thereby, blocking the air passage in your throat. It makes the back of the throat collapse more readily, which then causes snoring.

5. Sing:
You don’t need to have a perfect voice to do this. Singers are less likely to snore than people who keep their mouths shut. Singing strengthens the muscles in your soft palate and upper throat, so they’re less likely to collapse and block your airway.
