Pictures they say don’t lie but can that be true in the case of legendary musician Diana Ross?

 Can she still get pregnant at her age, 71? Fans of the former Supreme were left baffled when a picture of Ross appeared on internet showing her with a bulging stomach.

Although the pictures look real, it defies biological reasoning that she can conceive at her age, a septuagenarian.
Ross was seen on the street of Los Angeles with what looked like a huge baby bump.
Many reasons have been given for her protruding belly. Some said she was pregnant, another group believed she was acting out a script from a movie. Some said it was a case of fibroid gone bad and others said it was a photo trick while another believed she is a surrogate mother for her daughter.
However, according to a source close to the singer, it was just a bad photo.

Robbers Request For Food During Operation

An armed robbery operation that took place in Ejigbo community in Lagos state took a strange turn when the robbers ordered one of their victims to serve them food.

PM News reports that the robbers entered Adenuga and Joseph streets at 1.30am on Thursday, October 1. They reportedly entered a house and asked the victim to serve them food. The distraught victim quickly served them eba and soup which the robbers ate in his sitting room before proceeding to carry out their operation.

The robbers went away with money and valuables in an operation that lasted for three hours. The worst hit streets were Fayemi, Surprise Avenue and Oboye. It was reported that at Surprise Avenue; the robbers broke into shops and carted away valuables.
PM News reported that the incident was not the first in the community as residents reported they had been waylaid in the early morning and their money and phones seized at gun point.
A resident in Joseph Street said the robbers broke into their house and tied residents up before combing the apartments for valuables.
The victim said: “Three of them who entered our sitting room ordered our mum to serve them food which she did. Thereafter, they ransacked the whole house and stole N100,000, handsets and other valuables and left.”

Residents complained that the robbery had become commonplace in the community and pointed accusing fingers at suspected cultists in the area who they said were between the ages of 15 and 20.
An anonymous police sources however blamed the residents for not providing adequate information to the police to help with fighting the crime.

Pastor’s Wife Says Her Husband Is A Violent Sadist

Yemisi Abiose Ajayi, the wife of pastor Tunde Tolulope Ajayi, says her husband is an inhuman sadist who battered her for 17 years as a punching bag.

The wife of Tunde Tolulope Ajayi, the senior pastor with the with the Mountain of Fire and Miracle Ministries, told that she was regularly and mercilessly battered for 17 years and can’t take it any more, because she is afraid her husband would kill her.


Yemisi Abiose Ajayi applied for help to Violence Against Women activist Ify Onyegbule, who revealed the story of domestic violence in pastor’s family on social media.
Ify Onyegbule told that the woman contacted her after her husband  beat her mercilessly on 30 September to a pulp at Casso area of Alagbado.
“What will drive a man to this extent?” asked Ify Onyegbule, adding that “I am on this story and I will keep you posted. As we speak, Yemisi has moved out of her matrimonial home…and is at a loss of what her next line of action should be because according to her “he won’t rest but will continue to make trouble with me”“.
Every fourth Nigerian woman suffers domestic violence in her lifetime, claims report by a consultant psychiatrist, Dr Maymunah Kadiri.
In her statement to press Ms. Kadiri told that the worst forms of domestic violence are rape and homicide, and that domestic violence is one of the major social issues in Nigeria. Battering and trafficking are other grave forms of abuse experienced by Nigerian girls and women

Villagers Set Witch Doctor On Fire After He Beheads Little Boy

A four-year-old boy was reportedly kidnapped and beheaded as an offering to he Hindu goddess Kali in Pokuru in Andhra Pradesh, India.
Trumala Rao, 35, allegedly stole a four-year-old boy from a nursery in a health centre and carried him to his house.

Then a suspected witch doctor cut Manu Sagar’s head off, collected his blood and sprinkled it all over his house in a religious ritual. The man believed that a human sacrifice will give him power and wealth from a Hindu goddess Kali.

The boy’s headless body was found in the remote house only after his mother L Adilakshmi didn’t find him at nursery and a manhunt organized by angry villagers began.
After they suspect was found, the locals tied him to the tree, beat him and set alight. Luckily for the man, police intervened and the man was taken to hospital where he is now treated for severe burns.

He will have to undergo medical tests to evaluate his mental health before being interrogated by police officers. In the village he is known for keeping ties with practitioners of tantric rituals and several unsuccessful attempts to abduct children.

Boko Haram: Army Discover New Fuel Dump, Arrest Operator

The Nigerian army has again recorded another victory in the war against Boko Haram, as troops discovered and raided another fuel dump at Abbaganaram in Maiduguri, Borno state.

 
This was disclosed in a press release by Colonel Sani Kukasheka Usman, the acting director of army’s public relations.
Col. Usman said the raid was carried out based on a tip from well-meaning citizens.


The spokesperson further informed that during the operation, one suspect, Musa Abba, was arrested and some items were discovered and seized. They included: 11 drums of AGO, one empty drum, 192 of 25-litres jerrycans, (out of which 70 were loaded with AGO, PMS and DPK), a Toyota bus and one Peugeot car, a motorcycle and an air conditioner.

According to the army spokesman, the fuel depot was used to stockpile petroleum, oil and lubricants by the terrorists.
He stressed that it was from the depot that the jihadists and their heartless collaborators were moving the products to the terrorists’ camps in Sambisa forest.
In conclusion, the military officer called for more support from the citizens:
“Over time we have been exhorting the public especially the residence of the north eastern part of the country which has been mostly affected by the acts of the Boko Haram terrorists to cooperate fully with the military and the security agencies.”

“It is gratifying to note that such call is being heeded to by overwhelming majority of people as exemplified by the courageous and patriotic efforts of the good citizens that exposed this fuel dump in their midst. It is important that people should see the fight against the security menace of Boko Haram terrorism as collective responsibility,” Usman said.


“The public are kindly requested to be more vigilant and assist with useful information that would assist in preventing Boko Haram terrorists from carrying out their nefarious acts against the society,” he added.
Meanwhile, the Nigerian army has continued raids in Sambisa forest in their bid to oust the insurgents threatening the Northeast region of Nigeria.

Remembering High Profile Political Killings From 1960 - Date

As Nigeria turns 55 today, October 1, Clavmedia.com revisits some high profile killings that rocked the nation from 1960 to date.
Just as Nigerians continue to live with the agonizing memory of unresolved killings, including those of the celebrated journalist, Dele Giwa, elder statesman Alfred Rewane, former Attorney-General and Minister of Justice Chief Bola Ige and many others, the unsuccessful effort of the security agencies in bringing culprits of such dastardly and gruesome killings to book is worrisome.
Although, the House of Representatives has urged the Federal Government to reopen investigations into these unsolved murders with a view of bringing culprits to justice, the passage of time has not healed the wounds inflicted on the nation as the cry for justice remains justifiably loud.

The list of politically motivated killings is endless but here are some cases.

Tafawa Balewa: Born on 1912, he became the first and still the only prime minister of an independent Nigeria on October 1, 1960.
Balewa was knighted by Elizabeth II as a Knight Commander of the Order of the British Empire. He was awarded an honorary doctorate from the University of Sheffield in May, 1960.
Death however struck on January 15, 1966 as he was overthrown and murdered in a military coup. The circumstances of his death still remain unresolved. His body was discovered at a roadside near Lagos six days after he was ousted from office.

Sir Tafawa Balewa

Balewa was buried in Bauchi state and today, his portrait adorns the 5 Naira Note. The Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University in Bauchi was also named in his honour.


Ahmadu Bello: He was the first premier of the Northern Nigeria region. Bello was however assassinated January 15, 1966, same day as Tafawa Balew.

He was still serving as premier of Northern Nigeria at the time.

Murtala Mohammed: He was the head of the federal military government of Nigeria from 1975 until his assassination in 1976.
Muhammed lost his life at age 37, along with his Aide-De-Camp (ADC), Lieutenant Akintunde Akinsehinwa in his black Mercedes Benz saloon car on February 13, 1976 in an abortive coup attempt led by Lt. Col Buka Suka Dimka.

General Murtala Mohammed

Muhammed’s car was ambushed while en route his office at Dodan Barracks, Lagos and was murdered. He was succeeded by the Chief of Staff, Supreme HQ Olusegun Obasanjo.
Today, his portrait adorns the 20 Naira note and Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos is named in his honor.

Samuel Ladoke Akintola: Born in Ogbomosho, south west Nigeria, Akintola was a politician, lawyer and aristocrat who lost his life in January 15, 1966.

He was assassinated in Ibadan, on the day of Nigeria’s first military coup of January 15, 1966—which terminated the First Republic.

Ken Saro-wiwa: The spate of killings ceased for a while but soon made a return as the 1995 executions of Ogoni leader Ken Saro-Wiwa and eight Ogonis by Nigeria’s military government attracted international condemnation.

In May 1994 four prominent Ogoni leaders were murdered. The government arrested Ken Saro-Wiwa for involvement in the crime. On October 31, 1995, Ken Saro-Wiwa and eight other Ogonis were sentenced to death for inciting the murder of the four Ogoni leaders. They were executed on November 10, 1995.

DELE GIWA – The assassination of the founding editor of Newswatch on October 1986 via a parcel bomb, opened agonizing memories yet again.

The death of the celebrated journalist was a big loss for the nation. Giwa died aged 39.

River state born politician Dr. Obi Wali was brutally murdered in 1993 at his Port Harcourt residence.
Although the police questioned his wife back then in the early 90s, nothing again has been said about his death.

KUDIRAT ABIOLA
Wife of acclaimed winner of Nigeria presidential election held on June 12, 1993, Kudirat Abiola was murdered very close to the Lagos-Ibadan express toll gate in 1994.

One of Late General Sani Abacha’s aide, Hamzat Al-Mustapha amongst others, are still being tried for her death.

Elder statesman, Pa Alfred Rewane, was murdered at his Ikeja, Lagos home in 1994.
Before his death, Rewane was a successful businessman and a strong critic of military dictatorship.

BOLA IGE
Former Governor of Oyo state and later, Minister of Justice and Attorney General of the Federation, Chief Bola Ige, was murdered on December 23, 2001.
Ige was killed at his residence at Ibadan, Oyo state. His family have since given up on the case as various people were arrested and tried for involvement of his murder, but they were all cleared.

In a speech at his funeral, he was quoted as saying that he was sure that Nigeria was worth living for but he was not so sure that it was worth dying for.
Alhaji Ahmed Pategi –  The Former Kwara state chairman, PDP, was murdered at Aiyetoro, in Kogi state on August 15, 2002.

Ogbonnaya Uche, All Nigeria Peoples Party senatorial candidate for Orlu zone was murdered on February 8, 2003 at his Owerri home. Imo state.

MARSHAL HARRY
Just like Ige and Rewane, death struck in the home of the All Nigeria Peoples Party chieftain, Chief Marshal Harry.
Chief Harry was murdered on March 5, 2003.

AMINOSARI DIKIBO
Next was the death of another big politician in the south-south as Chief Aminasoari Dikibo, was killed on February 6, 2004.
Dikibo was a former national vice chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party.

ANDREW AGOM
A member of PDP Board of Trustees and former boss of Nigeria Airways, Chief Andrew Agom, was also killed on March 4, 2004.
He was on the entourage of the former Benue state governor Senator George Akume, when the ugly incident happened.

IGWE BARNABAS
The Onitsha branch chairman of Nigeria Bar Association (NBA), Chief Igwe Barnabas was murdered on September 10, 2002. He was killed alongside his wife Abigail Amaka Barnabas.

FUNSHO WILLIAMS
On July 2006, Lagos PDP governorship aspirant, Engineer Funsho Williams was killed at his Dolphin Estate, Ikoyi, Lagos home. The police are yet to identify his killers about nine years after.

AYO DARAMOLA
The former World Bank consultant and PDP governorship aspirant in Ekiti state, Dr. Ayo Daramola was also murdered in 2006. The police are still investigating the murder.

On November 21, 2009, a political associate of former Rivers state governor Rotimi Amaechi, Chief Charles Nsiegbe, was killed on the street of Port Harcourt.

DIPO DINA
On January 25, 2010, suspected assassins shot and killed Otunba Dipo Dina around Covenant University, Ota, Ogun state.
The late politician was the AC governorship candidate in 2007 and was popularly called DD-Direct.
The list is endless as Nigerians demand Justice must prevail.

#NigeriaAt55: 5 Reasons Independence Is Worth Celebrating

Nigeria is 55-years old today, October 1, having gained independence from British rule in 1960.
To many people, Independence Day is not worth celebrating due to a lot of challenges the nation is facing.
A lot of people are wondering why the celebration when there is so much hardship, deadly attacks from insurgents and other security challenges. Recall that it was during the 50th Independence celebration that an explosion occurred just outside Eagle Square, the venue of the grand celebration. Since then, the celebration has been low-key and held inside the Presidential Villa.

It is very glaring that the nation is riddled with high-levels of poverty, corruption, poor governance and insurgency. We are still divided along tribal and ethnic lines and the gap between the rich and poor is getting wider. So, what is worth celebrating you may ask?



1. The people have managed to remain united:
In spite of all these challenges and deficiencies, we have managed to remain one. Nigeria has its own problems just like every other country. For the fact that the nation still exists despite all the damage done to her socially, politically and economically is enough reason to celebrate. We are not at war. We all would not be going about our businesses if there was war. It is only when there is peace that business can thrive.

2. The nation has come a long way:
We have managed to achieve some things as a nation. Any achievement no matter how small is worth celebrating. A lot of us complain that the nation has achieved nothing but that thing we consider ‘nothing’ has gone a long way to making us what we are today. Yes, we all know that most nations have gone ahead of us and we keep making comparisons. One thing we should know is that those nations also have their own challenges. There are also people sleeping on the streets in those nations.

3. There is still hope:
We might not be where we want to be or that major power we hoped to be but there is still hope. The whirlwind of corruption, bad leadership, terrorism and unstable economy has not been able to snuff out that hope. As long as there is life there is hope.

4. Wallowing in self-pity has never helped anybody:
You celebrate your birthday not because you have become the richest man or you don’t have problems. How has all the lamenting and self-pity helped this nation. If we want to see this country change for the better, we must learn to do things differently. Those who think abusing the nation will make things better are only deceiving themselves. After all, you don’t insult your father because he is not one of the richest men.

5. Nigeria still has a few good men and women:
The fact that the leaders have failed the nation does not mean that everybody has failed. There are still some honest and responsible people out there who have not and will not sell their souls for money. There are still people who are making sacrifices for the nation and taking giant strides. You too can be one of them instead of just sitting and complaining. No one will come from outside to build Nigeria, it is your responsibility as her citizen to do your own bit. A lot of people blame the leaders for corruption, but sit down and reflect: are you any better? You still offer bribes, jump queues and beat traffic. The change begins with you.

Insulting Nigeria on Independence Day for not being like the USA or other more developed countries is like insulting your father on his birthday for not being like Dangote. Let’s all change this attitude of pessimism and hopelessness and believe that one day Nigeria will get it right.
